The 2025 Malawi Information Technology and Management Seminar, a China-aid program hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by CIFAL Shanghai, officially launched on October 23 in Shanghai. Over 14 days, 25 government officers and university experts from Malawi will attend thematic lectures and visit leading Chinese companies to gain hands-on insights into China’s advances in big data, IoT, cloud computing, AI and e-governance, fostering deeper bilateral cooperation in the digital era.
On 14 October 2025, the Ministry of Commerce of China and CIFAL Shanghai launched a 14-day Belt & Road High-Tech Industry & Innovation Seminar. Thirty-one government leaders and experts from 11 countries will dive into AI, big data, cloud computing and on-site visits to top Chinese tech firms, aiming to foster joint R&D and investment along the Belt & Road.
On September 22, 2025, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr. Alek Voninski of the University of Newcastle visited CIFAL Shanghai. The two sides held in-depth discussions on international talent cultivation and sustainable development, reached several cooperative consensuses and laid a solid foundation for future joint progress and mutual benefit.
On September 11, 2025, Ms. Wu Shanshan, Deputy Director of Tianjin National Ocean Technology Center, visited CIFAL Shanghai with her team. Executive Director Wu Yugang presented CIFAL Shanghai’s achievements in global SDG training and cooperation since 2006. Wu Shanshan outlined the center’s four core business areas and flagship international projects. The two sides agreed to establish long-term collaboration in marine information technology, capacity building and sustainable ocean governance to jointly address global ocean challenges.
The 2025 Belt & Road InfoSec seminar opened in Shanghai on Aug 20. Over 14 days, 32 government officials will study China’s practices in integrating blockchain, big-data, IoT and AI into national cyber-security strategies, fostering future collaboration.
Guided by UNITAR, WWEC 2025 closed in Shanghai with a new holistic-education initiative aimed at global equity and sustainable development.

On July 2–3, 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Shanghai (CIFAL Shanghai) successfully held the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Empowerment Seminar for Change-makers at UNITAR Headquarters in Geneva. The two-day seminar welcomed students from Shanghai, offering them insights into the global sustainable development agenda and exposure to international organizations in Geneva.
On July 2, 2025, the "Seminar on Blockchain and Information Security for 'Belt and Road' Countries" was successfully launched in Shanghai. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China, guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, and undertaken by CIFAL Shanghai International Training Center, the seminar aims to introduce China's advancements and experiences in blockchain and information security technologies. The 14-day program includes 33 government officials from nine countries.
